Meet the Fan Accounts
Kate, owner of @myloveforsiwa, a fan account for JoJo Siwa.
Anna, owner of @maddiesramen, a fan account for Maddie and Mackenzie Ziegler.
Dorsa, owner of @kendallalerts, a fan account for Kendall Vertes.
Izzy, owner of @esthetictwinkle, a fan account for Maddie and Mackenzie Ziegler, among other stars, including Annie and Hayley LeBlanc from the Bratayley YouTube Channel.
London, owner of @updatingchloelukasiak, a fan account for Chloe Lukasiak.
Everly Mag: What inspired you to start your account?
Kate: I was inspired to start my account for JoJo because I had watched her on Dance Moms and immediately fell in love. I met [JoJo] in September 2015 and knew I wanted to make a fan account for her.
Anna: Maddie and Kenzie inspired me to make this account. I wanted to show that I will support them through thick and thin.

Dorsa: I [always] loved Kendall. She’s gorgeous. I always said to myself, “Wow, she’s so pretty, I want to be like her.” I instantly started stanning her, and got every photo of her I could get and put it [up] on my bedroom wall.
London: I had just finished watching an episode of Dance Moms and I was [on Instagram]. I saw a [tagged] picture of Chloe and her [then-boyfriend] Ricky. It was a fan fiction about them. I started to read it, and I was obsessed. So, I decided to write a fan fiction of my own! That’s how my account started.
Everly Mag: What were your goals for your account?
Kate: To get noticed by JoJo, and just to support her no matter what, and show others what JoJo does and how she is a fantastic person that everyone should look up to.
Dorsa: My all-time goal was to get followed by Kendall and Jill [Vertes, Kendall’s mother].
Everly Mag: What’s changed most about your account since you started?
Kate: What has changed is the followers. In the beginning, most of the Dance Moms community [was full of] teenagers or older. Now, JoJo is popular with the younger crowd, and there [are] more young kids on Instagram than there were before.

Dorsa: Surprisingly, both Kendall and Jill followed me. One night, I posted a video of the girls dancing and woke up in the morning with my account blowing up and everyone commenting that Kendall followed. I was sick that day, but I instantly started crying. My mom literally came to my room and asked me what was happening! I never expected [to get noticed] by the whole Vertes family. I’m so grateful.
London: The whole concept [has changed] actually. It used to be a fan fiction account but now [it is] an updating account for Chloe. I had changed my username about 900 times before I stuck with this one.
Everly Mag: What’s been the biggest surprise of running your fan account?
Kate: How big my account became. I have over 18K [followers] and I couldn’t be more thankful for the support I’ve gotten in my dedication to supporting my idol for over 3 years.

Izzy: The amount of love and support I get on my account, which I think is really cool! The fact that people comment on my edits and say things like “lovee” or “slayyy” just makes my day.
London: How interactive Chloe was with me! I remember the first time she liked my post. She had an event and I had posted a picture of her there and she liked the picture! I was surprised because Chloe hadn’t really been active with her fans (from what I had seen) before that. It was the only picture from fans she had liked that day! Soon after, she started commenting! I can now proudly say she [has] reposted 6 edited pictures of mine!

Everly Mag: What’s the best part of running your account?
Kate: All the friends I’ve made. Internet friends are the absolute best friends out there. I’m so thankful for them.
Dorsa: The best part is talking to Kendall and Jill, and also being in their feed. Although they do not always answer, I like making group chats with Kendall and Jill and adding other fan accounts [to give them] opportunities to get noticed. Usually, Kendall opens [the messages] and talks which means the world to me!

Izzy: [Knowing] there are other people supporting the people I love or supporting me.
London: Definitely seeing how kind the Chloe fandom is! Everyone is so kind and helpful to each other. Also, seeing what Chloe is up to almost every day is a plus.
Everly Mag: What’s the hardest part of running your account?
Kate: Probably dealing with haters of JoJo. They like to attack [her] fan pages as well, and that can be tough sometimes.
Izzy: [Being] active. As an editor, edits take awhile [to create], so editors are more likely to become inactive.

London: Getting updates on Chloe. It’s hard work trying to find updates. I always want to be the first one to post, but it’s hard because of the 6-hour [time difference]. Another hard part is dealing with the haters. I try not to get involved with fighting. Some people have even told me I was a fake fan for not defending [Chloe] or even for liking Maddie. But, I try to block them out and do what Chloe would want!
Everly Mag: What advice do you have for other fan accounts that are just getting started?
Kate: Be patient with a notice from your idol. It took months for me to have JoJo finally follow. You’ll get there if you keep working hard with constant posts and support.

Dorsa: Post whatever [you] like. You don’t need to have a theme if you don’t want to. Honestly, post things that you like and want to, and things that make you happy. Your chance [to have] your idol follow you will come one day, out of nowhere, just wait and see.
Izzy: Don’t give up! Have fun with your account and don’t care about the followers.
London: Be yourself! I know that’s the cheesiest thing to say, but it’s actually key. Don’t try to be like another fan account. You can be a spam account, updating account, the possibilities are endless! Be kind to other people in the fandom – don’t [try] to instigate a fight or [try] to start rights [with] other fandoms. It’s not going to get you anywhere. Just be you.

Everly Mag: What message would you want to give to the star you admire?
Kate: To JoJo – keep being yourself! You have so many people looking out for you and supporting what you do every day. Never stop being a fantastic role model for today’s generation.
Anna: To Maddie and Mackenzie – you guys have seriously inspired me SO much! You’ve inspired me to dance and be a better person in general. I wish we could just sit down and have a genuine conversation together, so whenever you’re ready, I’m ready!

Izzy: To all the social media influencers I made my account for – Continue spreading all your love and happiness to everyone! Don’t let hate bring you down.
London: To Chloe – I love you. You’re an inspiration to me and to a lot of other people! You’re amazing!
Everly Mag: Do you think social media is mostly positive or negative? How can teens and tweens help make social media a better place?
Kate: Hate and bullying is sadly common today, and that should be changed. When we have positive influencers like JoJo and many others, the community will be a better place. Teens can change the outlook on social media by always remembering to stay kind and bring out the positive side of yourself, not the negative.

London: I think social media is mostly positive! It’s just [that] people are more interested in the negative and that overpowers the positive. You can spread positivity by doing little things – leaving a nice comment on someone’s post (not the same one on everyone’s post. That’s the most annoying thing ever and will get you blocked on some people’s accounts). [Liking] someone’s post can make their day also! Just stay positive, we can make the world a better place.
