Everly Mag interviewed Elisabeth about social media, who inspires her, what it means to be an influencer, and more!
Everly Mag: Describe your personality in 5 words.
Elisabeth: Spontaneous, driven, creative, studious, and energetic!
Everly Mag: When and why did you start using social media? What social networks do you use?
Elisabeth: I started using social media when I was around 11 or 12 years old, mostly because I wanted to create a fan page for my favorite show. I use Instagram for the most part, and Facebook for connecting with family, friends, and people in the film industry. I post videos on YouTube when I have the time. I haven’t lately, [but] I still watch videos on there all the time.
Everly Mag: What’s your favorite social network or app and why?
Elisabeth: My favorite app is Instagram because it’s such a creative platform. You can share your photography, favorite things, photo and video edits you’ve made, promote brands, and market yourself.
Everly Mag: What’s your favorite and least favorite thing about social media?
Elisabeth: My favorite thing about social media is that you can showcase your talents, make friends, create portfolios, and just keep memories. You can stay up to date on how your friend from out of state is doing, and I find that really cool. However, I dislike the cyberbullying and hate that celebrities and individuals receive. I think the internet should be a place for positivity. Why hide behind a computer screen? It’s pathetic.
Everly Mag: How can teens make social media a better place?
Elisabeth: By spreading positivity – complimenting one another on their posts, congratulations [others], texting encouraging words. It’s so much easier to set aside your difference and be nice. It makes everyone happy and helps to avoid tense situations. It’s just better for everyone.
Everly Mag: What are 3 goals you have for your future?
Elisabeth: I hope to graduate college with a Master’s degree (in I-don’t-know-which-field, which is okay) and just to continue writing for online publications, acting, and doing what I love.
Everly Mag: What’s one piece of advice you have for teens who want to spread positivity on social media?
Elisabeth: Take a deep breath and remember that behind all those posts where [someone] acts like their life is perfect, they’re probably fighting something. So, always be nice. You never know what someone is going through.
Everly Mag: Share one quote that inspires you.
Elisabeth: Just one?! Okay – can I say two? First: “Stars can’t shine without darkness.” Second: “There’s always rain before a rainbow.”
Everly Mag: Who are your top 3 role models?
Elisabeth: Lilly Singh, Rowan Blanchard, and Adelaine Morin.
Everly Mag: What does it mean to you to be an influencer?
Elisabeth: It means that I can be a role model for teens and tweens who need a little guidance. I used to have anger issues and social anxiety, so I know what it feels like to be at the bottom. I want to help [others] get to the top and be the best they can be.
Everly Mag: How could you change the world as an influencer?
Elisabeth: How would I change the world? Write. Post. Inspire. I want to encourage people to volunteer, create partnerships with people in their community, and to always be mindful of others’ situations. All of that combined will set you up for a great future.
Everly Mag: Lastly, tell us one thing about you that might surprise our readers.
Elisabeth: I did a TEDx talk in sixth grade. You can find it on YouTube. Be prepared to cringe!
