Everly Mag interviewed Mya about social media, who inspires her, what it means to be an influencer, and more!
Everly Mag: Describe your personality in 5 words.
Mya: Quirky, spontaneous, friendly, funny, and nice!
Everly Mag: When and why did you start using social media? What social networks do you use?
Mya: I started during a trip to America in 2011 with my friends. They recommended Twitter for [its] positive environment. My mother managed that account until [I was] 13. I currently use Instagram and Snapchat to keep in touch with my friends, and I have private accounts to express the weird things I go through.
Everly Mag: What’s your favorite social network or app and why?
Mya: Instagram, as every account is different. I love seeing inspiration, funny posts, fan accounts, and aesthetic accounts that are so relaxing.
Everly Mag: What’s your favorite and least favorite thing about social media?
Mya: My favorite thing [is] the diversity and how everyone can express themselves to the whole world just through photos and words, and are able to create a base [from] their personality. My least favorite thing about social media [is] the hate that can be spread, and the negative images it creates for innocent people. Some people think they fully know who someone is, just from what they post, even though most people [only] show a bit of themselves through social media.
Everly Mag: How can teens make social media a better place?
Mya: By keeping their opinions to themselves. They don’t know how words can affect [someone], even if they don’t know them.
Everly Mag: What are 3 goals you have for your future?
Mya: Get good grades in school, further my career in acting and singing and appear in shows, and finally travel around the world.
Everly Mag: What’s one piece of advice you have for teens who want to spread positivity on social media?
Mya: Keep your posts happy and have a clear message you want to send to [your] viewers. Also, interact with other accounts. Show positivity to others, which will encourage them.
Everly Mag: Share one quote that inspires you.
Mya: “Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose.”
Everly Mag: Who are your top 3 role models?
Mya: Millie Bobby Brown as she spreads positivity and stands up for what is right. Mackenzie Ziegler as she is so talented, and I have been fortunate enough to meet her and she’s so sweet and caring. Dylan Conrique as she’s an amazing girl with an amazing voice who is funny and caring.
Everly Mag: What does it mean to you to be an influencer?
Mya: To be an influencer [would] feel amazing, as it shows people notice me for what I do. Even if it’s just a few people, it doesn’t matter. As long as everyone is happy, [that’s] all I care about.
Everly Mag: How could you change the world as an influencer?
Mya: I would delete the negative image related [to] social media and our current generation. We are better than what others think [of us]. We just need to show we can make a difference, and we will.
Everly Mag: Lastly, tell us one thing about you that might surprise our readers.
Mya: I have met the majority of the Harry Potter cast and have a book with all their signatures, as my brother played Ron Weasley’s son, Hugo Weasley.
