Get to know one of Everly Mag’s aspiring influencer contest winners, Hannah!
Hannah, 17, hails from Indiana in the United States. She’s passionate about social media, design, and fashion. She loves how she can do anything on social media – from Instagram pictures, to YouTube videos, to writing random thoughts on Twitter. She loves using computer apps to make designs and put outfits together. She loves fashion – but prefers picking outfits for others than for herself. Above all, she loves to express herself.
What does Hannah love about Everly Mag?* She loves how positive everyone is, and how there’s no pressure like there usually is on social media. Everyone is supportive, and she loves how close the community is and how it’s helped her with communication. She loves how ambassadors get to know the Everly creator, Katherine, and how they get a say in the Real Teens Talk segments.
What would Hannah do if she woke up to 1 million followers?* She would try to message as many people as possible to thank them, and would use her platform to spread and empower creativity in the best way she could. She would want to give others the chance to show what they can do and share it with her or her followers. She thinks social media should be about helping others and sharing things we create!
Everly Mag interviewed Hannah about social media, who inspires her, what it means to be an influencer, and more!
Everly Mag: Describe your personality in 5 words.
Hannah: Creative, shy, quiet, sarcastic, passionate.
Everly Mag: When and why did you start using social media? What social networks do you use?
Hannah: I started using social media when I was 15 just for fun, but then at 16, I started using it and learning how everything works in the social media world. I then started becoming obsessed with everything that goes into videos and posts. I got on social media because everyone else [did], but I liked how everyone can make pages that are their own. I wanted to make content and share it with others. I am mainly inspired by a lot of YouTubers. YouTube was the first app that I got on, so I still support a lot of the people from there.
Everly Mag: What’s your favorite social network or app and why?
Hannah: YouTube, because it is the best place to share content.
Everly Mag: What’s your favorite and least favorite thing about social media?
Hannah: My favorite thing is [that] it gives you a place to make and share content and connect with people that like the same things. My least favorite thing is how people go on other people’s pages and comment hate. I think if someone doesn’t like someone’s content, then they shouldn’t go to their page.
Everly Mag: How can teens make social media a better place?
Hannah: By spreading positivity. They can do this by commenting nice things and encouraging others. I have seen pages where [teens] can support a cause, and I think that is a cool way to support something.
Everly Mag: What are 3 goals you have for your future?
Hannah: One goal I have is to make content that will affect someone’s life in a positive way. I want people to see the real me and hopefully it they relate, they won’t feel alone. My second goal is to make a group for new people that want to make a difference in the world through social media. I feel like the ones you see on tours are the ones that have millions of followers. I would want to take chances on others to bring back that time in social media where things were just for fun. I love YouTube’s early years where it was just people who sat in front of a camera and did random things. It just felt more real back then.
My third goal would be to work with as many other people as possible. I think the purpose of social media is to connect to people, so I would want to see how many people I can meet and work with. There are so many ways to do this, I just think it would be interesting to experience.
Everly Mag: What’s one piece of advice you have for teens who want to spread positivity on social media?
Hannah: Find people you really like and relate to, then support them. You could even start pages with friends or by yourself where you can share positive things. The pages could be just inspirational quotes or about people you know. Honestly just be yourself and have a fun attitude, done’t comment hate anywhere, and take the chances you get to encourage and compliment people.
Everly Mag: Share one quote that inspires you.
Hannah: “No one’s life is as perfect as their Instagram feed,” or “You can’t Photoshop a personality.”
Everly Mag: Who are your top 3 role models?
Hannah: Brooklyn and Bailey, Nathan Triska, and Ayexmadeline.
Everly Mag: What does it mean to you to be an influencer?
Hannah: Being an influencer means that someone has seen content that you made and they loved it and it affected their life in a positive way.
Everly Mag: How could you change the world as an influencer?
Hannah: I would change the world by encouraging people to do what they love.
Everly Mag: Lastly, tell us one thing about you that might surprise our readers.
Hannah: One fun fact about me is that when a new song comes out, I listen to that song continuously until I can’t stand it anymore!
