Everly Mag talked to Allie Grace all about music, who inspires her, what it’s like to sing in a recording studio, and more!

Everly Mag: How did you start singing?

Allie: The way I got started singing is actually kind of a funny story.  When I was ten, I broke my arm doing gymnastics, and I knew I was going to be out of gymnastics for a while.  I’ve always liked to keep busy, so because I couldn’t play sports, I turned to music.

Everly Mag: How did you know you had a passion for music?

Allie: I’ve always loved music so much.  I guess I just always knew I had a passion for singing, I just never really understood that you [could] choose to sing [for] a living.  The moment I realized that, I knew all I wanted to do was sing.

Everly Mag: What are your favorite songs and music genres?

Allie: I honestly love all genres of music.  My parents did a really good job exposing me to different types of music, but my favorite genre to sing is definitely country.  Country music is so much fun to sing because every song seems to have some kind of story behind it.  A few of my favorite artists to [cover] are Carrie Underwood, Kelsea Ballerini, and Miranda Lambert.

Everly Mag: Tell us about your recent music.

Allie: My recent music is all pretty much fun and lighthearted.  I haven’t really experienced any real heartbreak because I’m still really young, so it’s mostly [about] happiness.  I’m really excited to announce that I have a new single coming out on May 4, 2018.  It’s titled I’m Starting Over, and I couldn’t be more excited.  [The song] is all about finding a new path and how even if you’re lost, you’ll get found.

Everly Mag: What’s it like to sing in a recording studio?

Allie: Getting to sing in a recording studio is one of the coolest things ever.  It’s so awesome every time you put on the headphones and you know that something magical is about to happen!

Everly Mag: What was it like to gain 20K followers so quickly!  What do you hope to do with your social media platform?

Allie: Gaining 20K followers so quickly was absolutely insane!  I’m so thankful for everybody who has been following me on this journey.  It feels amazing to know that so many people are supporting me.

With my social media, I really hope to empower and inspire young girls to go after their dreams and to show people that if you can dream it, you can do it!  I really hope that someday I can inspire people.

Everly Mag: What are the best and worst parts of social media?

Allie: The best part of social media is getting to interact with your friends and having the ability to spread kindness.  I feel like the worst part of social media is that our world revolves so much around apps [like] Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat.  Sometimes, we just need to take a break.

Everly Mag: How can teens improve social media?

Allie: I believe that teens can improve social media by leaving nice comments and encouraging each other to do the right thing.

Everly Mag: What’s the best thing about being a singer?  What’s the most challenging thing?

Allie: The best thing is getting to share [my] music and the feeling I get when I sing.  I just [feel] really content when I am singing.

I think the biggest challenge about being a singer is worrying about what people might think.  It’s hard sometimes to put yourself out there in front of people, but you just have to hold your head up, have confidence, and keep going.

Everly Mag: What advice do you have for young aspiring singers?

Allie: Just go for it and really connect with the songs you are singing.  Do it because you love it, and don’t let anyone stop you!

Everly Mag: Describe your personality in 5 words.

Allie: Witty because I love to make people laugh.  Optimistic because I like to [see] the best [in] everything.  Responsible because in my classes at school I’m always prepared, and you can count on me.  Ambitious because i am determined to chase my dreams and I can make it through a challenge.  Lastly, I am adventurous because I love to try new things and discover new places!

Everly Mag: What are your hobbies outside of singing?

Allie: Spending time with my friends and family because we always have fun and they keep me grounded.  I also love, love, love to go shopping!

Everly Mag: Who are the top 5 singers who inspire you?  Who’s your biggest role model?

Allie: Carrie Underwood, Kelsea Ballerini, Carly Pearce, Taylor Swift, and Miranda Lambert.  Each one of them writes lyrics with a purpose, and they’re all super awesome!

Above all those wonderful women, I look up to my mom the most.  She is beautiful, humble, kind, and she always sees the best in people.  Someday I hope I can be just as amazing as her.

Everly Mag: What do you hope for the future of your career?

Allie: My ultimate dream is to attend the CMA Awards.  Whether I’m in the audience or performing, I would love to go!  I would also like to eventually go on tour and just inspire people.

Everly Mag: What else would you like our readers to know?

Allie: If you have a dream, just put your mind to it and do it; don’t let anyone stop you.  I feel like everyone is built with a passion or a dream that they always keep in the back of their mind.  It’s like everyone has a spark that never stops burning, so you just have to work hard and chase that dream!
