Finding a book that you can’t put down just minutes into reading it is a difficult task. When you do find the book, it becomes an obsession to get to the end and cross that finish line. I’ve compiled a short list of incredible books that brought me to that place of not being able to put them down.
Fierce By Aly Raisman
“Fierce”, written by USA gymnast and two-time olympian, Aly Raisman, follows her journey from her earliest memories in the gym to almost present day. It follows her through intense training for two Olympic games. The Massachusetts native talks about the ups and downs of her childhood and teenage years while competing gymnastics at an elite level. This book would definitely still be appealing to people who don’t follow gymnastics as Aly has an incredibly inspiring story. She is incredibly honest in her writing which is easy to sense from the earliest points of the book. For a girl under twenty-five years old, Raisman has experienced more than most people will in a lifetime which is why this book is so hard to put down.

The Harry Potter Series By J.K Rowling
Jump into the the magical world of wizardry with Harry Potter/ The seven book series follows a young boy named Harry who finds out he’s a wizard. His adventures are nothing short of outstanding. Although the first book was released over twenty years ago, this series is anything but stale. This book has been enjoyed worldwide by people of every age and gender for many years. Along with each book is a incredible movie. I find the series is very different than most because of how long the length of it is while still having new and refreshing ideas and storylines. Many people have already given this series a try, but if you haven’t, definitely add it to the top of your list.

The Selection By Kiera Cass
With The Selection, you get everything. You get drama, romance and even a look at the life of royalty. Thirty-five ladies are selected to compete for the love of Prince Maxon. If the win, they get to move into the fabulous castle and live the royal life. The women selected are all of different “castes,” or social statuses. A one means royalty and an eight means unemployed. The book follows America, a five (artists, dancers, singers) who gets picked for the selection. Her life will drastically change as everyone will now know her name and follow her journey on television. The strong storyline grasps the reader in right away which is something very special. This series is one of my favorites of all time and deserves more recognition.

The Book Thief By Markus Zusak
The very first book Liesel Meminger steals is “The Grave Digger’s Handbook” by the site of her brothers grave. The young girl begins to love books and words. She moves in with a new foster family in Nazi Germany and her foster father teaches her how to read. Her family even takes the risk of hiding a Jewish family friend in their basement. The book follows Liesel’s journey from a perspective that isn’t her own which is different than most popular books. This book takes the reader through a roller coaster with hope, fear, and excitement.

Unfiltered: No Regrets, No Shame, Just Me by Lily Collins
To the Bone actress Lily Collins released “Unfiltered” in 2017. In this book, Lily teaches many valuable lessons in self-love, relationships and family life. Lily had a very interesting childhood as she was born in the UK to English musician Phil Collins and American mother Jill Tavelman. At a young age she moved to the United States and began her acting career. Lily talks about her struggles and experiences to empower and motivate young people. The book is so inspiring and is a very beneficial read.

Not only will these books get you hooked on reading, they will teach you lessons and inspire you. Whether it’s to read another book or go make change in the world, that for you to decide.
