We are now accepting applications for Everly Mag’s Summer 2018 Leaders.

The Summer Leadership Program will begin in April 2018 and end in July 2018.

There are 3 leadership tracks: Writing, Ambassador, and Social Media.

You can apply to any (or all) of the leadership tracks, but you will only be accepted to one track.  Please read all the directions and explanation for each track before you apply.  Most of your questions should be answered.

Summer 2018 Track 1: Writing Leadership

The Writing Leadership Track is for aspiring writers, bloggers, and journalists who want to develop their writing skills in a professional setting and use their talent to contribute to Everly Mag.

We will be accepting up to 10 Writing Leaders.

Who can be a Writing Leader?

  • You must be 14 to 18 years old on April 1, 2018.
  • You must live in the United States, Canada, Australia, or the United Kingdom.
  • You must be motivated and able to write independently without high levels of support.
  • You must have a proficient grasp of grammar, spelling, sentence structure, and other English language writing conventions.
  • You must be willing to take risks and be creative!
  • You must have permission from your parent or guardian if you are under 18.
  • You must be willing to feature your first name, age, country, and photograph on the Everly Mag website.  If this is going to be an issue, please email us before you apply.  We are willing to make exceptions to this rule for privacy reasons, but need to discuss first.
  • You must already be an Everly Mag Ambassador.
  • You must be enthusiastic about the Everly Mag brand and excited to write about positivity, social media, insecurity, role models, celebrities, and other challenges that teens and tweens face today!

What do Writing Leaders do?

  • Every 2 weeks, Writing Leaders will need to complete a personal response prompt.  Responses will be posted to Everly Mag.
    • Example prompt: Write about something you’re passionate about and why.
    • Response lengths will vary between 250 and 2500 words.
    • Responses must be the writer’s original work and cannot have been used on any other blog or assignment.
    • Responses must be appropriate for teen and tween readers.
  • Each month, Writing Leaders will need to submit one original feature article to go on Everly Mag.
    • Writers will work with the Everly Mag creator to determine the article topic, sources, and length.  Writers will receive mentorship to craft the best possible article.  We will not accept all ideas if they do not fit with the theme of the blog.
    • Feature articles will not be personal essays, but blog posts (5 Ways to Spread More Positivity Online) or interview features (Interviewing a local organization, an influencer you know, an athlete you admire).
    • Your work will go on Everly Mag and cannot be reproduced on any other blog or forum.
    • You will work with the Everly Mag creator on writing, style, and images to make sure your article is the best it can be!
  • Writing Leaders will need to complete the minimum monthly required duties of the Everly Mag Ambassador Program (Survey questions and 1 brand task).

  • You will need to accept the Instagram follow requests of other ambassadors who wish to contact you.

  • You must be enthusiastic about the Everly Mag brand, especially the Ambassador Program, and want to create a strong and positive ambassador community!

What do Ambassador Leaders do?

  • Ambassador Leaders will be in charge of 1-3 group chats with ambassadors, where they will moderate discussions, answer questions about the program, and report all issues directly to the Everly Mag creator.
  • Each leader will have an assigned day, time, or week when they are available to answer questions over direct message.
  • Leaders will work together to create a Welcome Email for new ambassadors with an explanation of the program and testimonials about what they enjoy about the program.
  • Leaders will work closely with the Everly Mag creator to suggest changes to the program and help put changes into effect.
  • Eventually, 1-2 Ambassador Leaders may be given access to the Everly Mag Ambassadors account, where they can create posts and communicate directly with the full ambassador community.
